Privacy Policy
How WorksNear collects, uses and shares information when you use WorksNear.
Last updated September 20, 2026
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details from Google sign-in: your name, email address and profile picture.
- Profile information you add: location (city, state, ZIP), bio, phone number, skills, experience, certifications, availability, rates and service radius.
- Marketplace content: job postings, service listings, applications, cover letters and inquiry messages.
Information we generate
- Subscription records: plan, status, billing period and payment history returned by PayPal.
- Operational logs: requests and errors needed to keep the service running and secure.
We do not collect precise device location in the background. If you use “Near me” in search, your browser asks permission and the coordinates are used for that search only.
2. Why we use it
- To run the marketplace: showing listings, matching by location, and delivering applications and inquiries.
- To operate accounts, roles and plan limits.
- To process subscription payments through PayPal.
- To keep the platform safe: investigating reports, preventing fraud and enforcing our Terms.
- To send service messages about your account, applications and billing.
3. What other people can see
Your public profile — name, picture, location, skills and listings — is visible to other WorksNear users when your profile is set to public. When you apply to a job, the employer sees your profile, cover letter and any resume link you provide. When you send a service inquiry, the provider sees your name and message. You can make your profile non-public in settings; existing applications and inquiries already sent remain visible to their recipient.
4. Who we share data with
- Google — authentication only, when you sign in.
- PayPal — subscription billing. Card details go to PayPal directly and never reach our servers.
- Turso — the managed database that stores your account and marketplace data.
- Vercel — application hosting and request logs.
- Law enforcement or regulators — only where legally required, or where necessary to address an immediate safety risk.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
5. How long we keep it
Account and profile data is kept while your account is open. Job postings, applications and inquiries are retained as the record of an interaction between two users. Payment records are retained as long as required for tax and accounting purposes. When you delete your account, personal profile data is removed and remaining records are de-identified where we are not required to keep them.
6. Your choices
- Access and correction — edit your profile at any time from settings.
- Visibility — switch your profile between public and private.
- Deletion — request account deletion through the contact form; we confirm before acting.
- Portability — request a copy of the data associated with your account.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to object to processing or to lodge a complaint with your local regulator. Contact us and we will honour the rights that apply to you.
7. Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Sessions are signed tokens, and credentials for our service providers are held as server-side secrets. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account has been accessed without permission, contact us immediately.
8. Children
WorksNear is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we delete such accounts when we learn of them.
9. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will also be announced in the product.
10. Contact
Send privacy questions and requests through the contact form. We reply to the address you provide there.
