Local work deserves a local marketplace
Most job platforms are built for careers that move across the country. WorksNear is built for work that happens within a few miles of home.
Why WorksNear exists
A restaurant that needs a server this month, a warehouse filling a shift, a family looking for a reliable cleaner — none of these are national searches. They are neighbourhood searches. Yet the tools people reach for are either national job boards that bury local listings, or classified pages with no structure, no verification and no way to track what happened after the first message.
WorksNear puts the three sides of local work in one place: employers who are hiring, people looking for work, and providers offering hands-on services.
How it is different
- Distance is a first-class filter. Every job, worker and service is anchored to a real city, state and ZIP, so searching “near me” returns results that actually are.
- One thread from listing to hire. Applications and service inquiries live inside the platform with a status you can follow, instead of scattering across email and text messages.
- Reputation is earned on real work. Ratings come from completed engagements, and profiles carry a visible verification state.
- Looking for work stays affordable. Job seekers browse and apply for free before they ever consider a paid plan; service providers list at no cost.
How WorksNear makes money
Employers pay a monthly subscription based on how many people they manage on the platform. Job seekers who apply heavily can upgrade for unlimited applications. Nothing is taken out of what a worker earns, and WorksNear does not hold payments between the two sides — see pricing for the full breakdown.
Where we are going
The platform today covers job posting, applications, worker discovery, service listings and inquiries. Next up are applicant review for employers and direct employer ↔ employee messaging, followed by better local matching and stronger verification, not more feeds.
