Accessibility at WorksNear

Local work should be findable by everyone. Here is where the product stands and how to tell us when it falls short.

What we build against

WorksNear targets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. That target shapes how pages are built rather than being a certification we claim.

What is in place today

  • Semantic landmarks and headings on every page, with a skip-to-content link.
  • Full keyboard operation, with a visible focus ring on every interactive element.
  • Search and filter forms that submit over plain GET, so they work without JavaScript.
  • Text alternatives for meaningful imagery, and decorative graphics hidden from assistive technology.
  • Motion respects prefers-reduced-motion: animations reduce to near-instant when you ask your system for less motion.
  • A dark interface built to keep body text and controls above the AA contrast threshold.

Known gaps

  • Long listing pages do not yet announce result counts to screen readers on filter change.
  • Some third-party checkout steps happen on PayPal, where we do not control the interface.

Tell us what is broken

If something blocks you, tell us through the contact form — include the page, what happened and the assistive technology you use. Accessibility reports are treated as defects, not feature requests.
